Afrobeats superstar Davido has presented former Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) signee Mayorkun with a Tesla Cybertruck, publicly honoring their lasting friendship years after the singer left the record label.
The surprise gift was unveiled on Sunday via Davido’s Instagram Story, where the acclaimed singer posted a photo of the luxury electric pickup truck and announced it was intended for Mayorkun. He instructed an associate to arrange for its delivery the next day, and Mayorkun later acknowledged the gesture on his Instagram Story.
Sharing the announcement, Davido expressed, “My gift to you. I love you. ❤️❤️❤️ @iammayorkun cc @babzii_chilling, please ensure it is delivered tomorrow ❤️.
Mayorkun shared the message on his Instagram Story, captioning it, “Love 4L, 001❤️❤️❤️,” to show his gratitude for the gift and to highlight his enduring connection with Davido.
The gesture follows several years after Mayorkun, whose full name is Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, departed from DMW. In 2016, he was signed to the label after Davido came across one of his cover videos online, which ultimately propelled his career forward with the hit single Eleko.
During his tenure with DMW, Mayorkun launched multiple successful projects, including his debut album The Mayor of Lagos, before leaving the label in 2021 to embark on the next chapter of his career.
The Tesla Cybertruck, an all-electric pickup truck known for its stainless-steel exterior and angular design, is priced in the United States starting at approximately $69,990, with higher-specification models available at a significantly increased cost.
Davido’s recent action has captured significant attention on social media, with numerous fans highlighting it as yet another illustration of the amicable relationship the two entertainers have sustained despite the conclusion of their official artist-label partnership.
