Diddy’s attorneys plan to appeal his conviction and sentence

The 55-year-old musician, who was cleared of sex trafficking and racketeering charges, faces 50 months in prison for two charges of transportation for the purpose of prostitution.

His legal team has now delivered a two-page “notice of appeal” form to the Federal District Court in New York, two weeks after the sentencing.

At a later time, the court will receive additional information on the appeal.

Following Combs’ conviction in July, his lawyer Marc Agnifilo accused Judge Arun Subramanian of “second guessed” the jurors at sentence.

“What we believe happened today was that the judge second-guessed the jury and acted as a 13th juror,” he told reporters.

“We think that’s just absolutely inconsistent with the jury’s verdict,” he continued.

The jury’s decision was unmistakably apparent. He was only found guilty of prostitution since there was no sex trafficking or racketeering, everything was consensual, and everything was adult.

Marc had previously commended the judge’s actions after his well-known client’s trial was over.

“I believe Judge Subramanian is a very fair judge, and he worked remarkably hard to give us as fair a trial as possible,” he said at the time in an interview with Variety.

Since no trial is flawless, this one wasn’t either. However, the judge did a fantastic job of being careful, considerate, and allowing the parties enough of time. I have nothing but praise for our judge. He is a wonderful individual. And while though no lawyer or trial is flawless, I felt this one came quite close.

Prosecutors wanted him to serve 11 years in prison, while the defense team had asked for a 14-month term.

The judge, who handed down the punishment, informed the disgraced rapper that although he would be spending “hard time in prison” away from his family, he would still “have a life afterwards.”

The star’s ex-partner Cassie Ventura and “the other brave survivors who came forward” were honored by the judge, who also fined Diddy $500,000.

Despite acknowledging that the Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down hitmaker was now in a “dark place,” the judge also assured the rapper that there is “light at the end of the tunnel” for him and his family.

Before receiving his jail sentence, Diddy addressed the court and called his actions “disgusting, shameful, and sick.”

“I was sick, sick from the drugs,” he added. I was out of control, I needed help, but I didn’t get it, and I can’t blame my mother for teaching me this.

“I failed you as a son, and I’m sorry,” Diddy added, turning to face his mother Janice in the gallery.
