Bensoul and Njerae Shine in the Brand-New “Colors” Music Video
Njerae, who recently released her second EP under the Universal Music Group, returns with the stunning music video for her song “Colors,” featuring Grammy-winning Kenyan prodigy Bensoul.
The film, which was directed by Black Jurist, a well-known visual artist from Kenya, and produced by Just District, is a lively, performance vignette of two Kenyan stars displaying excellence and brooding feelings.
The movie, which features Kenyan labels like Makasi, pays tribute to Nairobi’s circular fashion brands, like Makasi and WhoIsCloset, among others, which are brilliantly displayed in the breathtaking images.
“Colors is really about connection—how two people can live in two very different worlds and yet connect through emotion.” Like love itself, it’s complex, warm, and little flirtatious. Ben and I wanted to convey the tension between intensity and softness—the kind that felt anchored but alive. It has a bright, soulful vibe that is reminiscent of sunshine after rain.

“The song flowed so naturally.” When the chords began to flow, the rest followed. Ben and I had been trying to make something that felt both classic and new. The message, the chemistry, and the songs all came together in one of those sessions, Njerae says.
The two musical designers, who are working together for the first time, also enlist the help of renowned Kenyan producer Kobby Worldwide to create a musical masterpiece. On Wednesday, October 15, Njerae, who has had an incredible year, released her surprise EP, with Bensoul’s song “Colors” as the lead single. As demonstrated on “Colors,” Kobby is renowned for his ability to connect the proper singers with his earworm-like sounds that blend R&B and genres like Afro Pop.
The record marks the pinnacle of Kenyan music in 2025, following both artists’ incredible year, which included Bensoul’s big song “Kautamu Flani,” being nominated at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs), and Njerae’s relentless and exuberant run of momentum. After playing her first international gig in Bradford, England during the Blankets & Wine UK Edition, supporting Kenyan heavyweight Bien on his nationwide tour, the “Alusa Continua Tour,” and having her EP “Four Letter Word” reach 3.7 million cumulative streams, Njerae has had a successful year. She was chosen as one of YouTube’s Foundry Rising Class of 2025, an EQUAL Ambassador by Spotify, and a member of Apple’s Africa Rising Class in 2025.
