Robert Pattinson and Zendaya will co-star in “The Drama”
An A24 romantic comedy starring the 29-year-old actress and the 39-year-old Batman star will come out in North America on April 3, it was revealed on Friday.
After the strange black comedy Dream Scenario in 2023, this is Kristoffer Borgli’s fourth movie and second work with A24. He wrote and directed it.
Critics gave that satire featuring Nicolas Cage great reviews at its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. It also got Cage a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a motion picture comedy or musical.
It is known that The Drama is about a couple who meets unexpected problems in their relationship before their wedding day, but A24 has not yet released all the details of the plot.
Zackary Knightley, Robert Pattinson, Alana Haim, Mamoudou Athie, and Hailey Gates are also in the group.
Along with Kristoffer and Tyler Campellone under Dilemma Films and in partnership with A24, Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen create the movie through their company Square Peg.
Recently, Square Peg and A24 have worked together on many projects, such as Dream Scenario, Death of a Unicorn, and all four of Aster’s directed movies: Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau Is Afraid, and Eddington.
“It’s a story about the ridiculous expectations people have of themselves and each other when love, performance, and fear collide,” Kristoffer said about the movie.
Adding, “Zendaya and Robert add something shockingly honest and funny to that tension.”
According to a statement released through A24, producers Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen said, “Kristoffer has a unique ability to turn discomfort into comedy and heartbreak into connection.” We’re excited to work with this cast to make his idea for The Drama come to life.
Later this year, Zendaya and Robert will also be in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which also stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.
Their schedules will be full this year for both stars.
After playing Chani again in Dune: Part Three, Zendaya will be back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and on HBO for the third season of Euphoria.
Robert will be starring with Jennifer Lawrence in Marilyn Ramsay’s Die My Love, which will be released by Mubi. He will also be in Lance Oppenheim’s first narrative feature, Primetime, which just finished filming under the A24 label.
It will be available all over the United States starting April 3.
