Snoop Dogg says he supports the LGBTQ+ community after the backlash of Lightyear

Snoop Dogg has made it clear that he supports the LGBTQ+ community.

Following criticism earlier this year for saying that he was “scared” to take his grandchildren to the movies after being caught off guard by a same-sex relationship in the 2022 Pixar film Lightyear, the 53-year-old rapper has now shown his support by joining forces with GLAAD to support Spirit Day, an LGBTQ+ youth anti-bullying campaign.

“It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents from all walks and be shown love, to be taught what love is… being able to have parents from all walks of life, whether it be two fathers, two mothers, whatever it is, love is the key,” the Drop It Like It’s Hot rapper said in an interview with Jeremy Beloate, a queer person who identifies as such and represented Snoop’s team on The Voice.

In their new song, Love Is Love, which will appear in the star’s animated children’s YouTube series Doggyland, Snoop and Jeremy said they wanted to convey to kids that love may take many different forms.

In the end, it all comes down to love, and that’s what Love Is Love teaches the children, he stated.

Spreading love and respect for everyone is what true gangstas do, so it felt natural to partner with GLAAD. We are demonstrating to the future generation the importance of love, the force of inclusiveness, and the coolness of compassion.

Snoop received criticism for asking why astronaut Alisha Hawthorne (Uzo Aduba) and her wife had a child in Lightyear, which also featured the first same-sex kiss from Disney Pixar.

On the August episode of It’s Giving, he stated: “(The kids) are like, ‘She had a baby – with another woman.'” My grandson asks, “Papa Snoop?” in the middle of the film. How did she get pregnant with a woman? “She is a woman!”

Snoop continued, saying, “Oh sh*t, I didn’t come in for this sh*t.” I came only to see the blasted movie.

They simply stated that “she and she had a baby—they are both women.” How does she give birth?

It f*****s me up. I feel like I’m afraid to go to the movies.

“You guys are throwing me into a situation for which I have no response. I was caught off guard by that.

“I wonder what scene in the film this was. They’re children. At this age, do we have to prove that? They are going to inquire. I’m not sure about the solution.

Subsequently, the Gin and Juice hitmaker acknowledged that he is “not perfect” and is open to taking lessons from the incident.

Below a Hollywood Unlocked video, he posted a comment regarding his comments: “I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons.”

All of my LGBT pals are aware of the situation. With love, they have been calling me. I apologize for not understanding the responses for a six-year-old. Show me the way to learn. I am not flawless. (sic)
