Jimmy Kimmel wants Trump to be on his late-night show

Jimmy Kimmel would “love” to have Donald Trump on his show to talk.

The 57-year-old late-night talk show host has been harshly criticized by the President of the United States. Last month, his show was taken off the air for a short time by ABC after he made comments about Charlie Kirk’s death.

“I’d love to have Trump on the show, for sure,” he said at the Bloomberg Screentime event.

Jimmy couldn’t help but poke fun at Trump again on September 24, just one night after coming back on the air after a week off.

In his first speech, he said, “You know, a lot of people saw our show last night.” A lot of people texted me.

“It struck me how many of my friends never watch the show at any other time.” No one will call me tomorrow.

“I did hear from a very close friend.”

Trump had written on Truth Social, “I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back.” This was used by him.

Jim said with a laugh, “You can’t believe they gave me my job back?” I’m shocked that they gave you your job back! “We’re even.”

The host also called the president “an old-fashioned bully from an 80s movie.”

He also said, “For those who think I go too far with Donald Trump—there are still a lot of people who think I should be kicked off the show for making Donald Trump.”

“Let me explain. More than anything else, I talk about Trump because he’s mean.”

Trump had said he would sue ABC for bringing Jimmy back.

“I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back,” he wrote on Truth Social. ABC told the White House that his show was shut down!

“Something changed between then and now, because his fans are GONE and his “skill” was never there.”

“Why would they want someone back who does such a bad job, isn’t funny, and puts the Network at risk by playing [99 percent] positive Democrat GARBAGE?”

“He’s just another part of the DNC, and as far as I know, that would be a big illegal campaign donation.”

“I believe we will put ABC to the test on this.” Let’s check it out. They gave me $16 million the last time I went after them. This one sounds like it will pay off even more. A real group of losers! I think Jimmy Kimmel should stay in his bad ratings. (sic)”

ABC had said before that Kimmel’s show would be off the air for good, but they never said he was fired.

In December 2024, Disney and Trump settled a defamation case against ABC and This Week host George Stephanopoulos. Stephanopoulos had said that Trump was found guilty of rape instead of sexual assault.

Talk shows, like Jimmy Kimmel Live!, have not been affected by FCC equal time laws. If they were, networks would have to give time to politicians running against them.
