Lil Nas X Receives “Treatment” Following Arrest in August
The 26-year-old celebrity is presently receiving treatment at an undisclosed institution in another state, so he was unable to attend a pre-trial hearing in Los Angeles on Monday.
Judge Shellie Samuels of the Los Angeles County Superior Court stated: “The defendant is permitted to stay out of state as long as he continues receiving treatment.”
“We’re doing what is best for [Lil Nas X] from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly, for his well-being,” the singer’s attorney Drew Findling told Rolling Stone.
“He is surrounded by an amazing family and an amazing team of people who care about and love him,” Drew continued. And we’re only dealing with those problems. That’s truly all there is to it.
He has had and will continue to have an amazing life. This is a setback that he will overcome.
The next hearing for the singer is set for November 18.
Early on August 6, authorities in Los Angeles arrested Lil Nas X, whose actual name is Montero Hill, when they learned that he had been seen traversing the city’s streets by himself.
According to a complaint obtained by People, the rapper allegedly used “force and violence [to] inflict an injury” onto three police officers.
Additionally, according to the lawsuit, Nas “illegally attempted to deter and prevent” a fourth police officer “from performing a duty imposed upon such officer by law” by using violence and threats.
He later went before a judge and entered a not guilty plea to one count of resisting an executive officer and three charges of battery with injury on a police officer.
The musician was then required by the judge to go to four Narcotics Anonymous meetings every week.
The musician’s father, Robert Stafford, later refuted claims that Nas was under the influence of drugs at the time of his detention.
“He’s going to get the help that he needs and just keep him in your prayers,” Robert assured reporters. Show him the same kindness and grace that God extends to everyone.
