Cardi B claims that she declined to participate in the Super Bowl halftime show

The Grammy-winning rapper said she turned down an offer to perform on the legendary stage because she wanted to wait for the appropriate moment.

When Cardi B disclosed that she declined the NFL’s offer to be the star of the Super Bowl halftime show, her supporters were delighted.

The Bronx rapper clarified in a recent interview with Billboard that she wasn’t yet prepared to perform on the enormous platform. She stated, “I was asked to perform at the Super Bowl, but I declined,” adding that she wants to hold off until she has more hits on the charts and more stage time so she can “eat that up” when the time is perfect.

With more than 100 million people, the halftime show is one of the most watched events worldwide. Cardi is more concerned with making sure she puts on the greatest performance when her time comes than she is with the attention.

Cardi has previously made decisions pertaining to the Super Bowl. Citing sympathy for Colin Kaepernick and his protest against racial inequality, she refused to go on stage with Maroon 5 during their halftime show performance back in 2019. She claimed at the time that the opportunity was not as important as the cause.

Her new revelation, however, generated discussion on the internet. While some fans cited her record-breaking success, others questioned whether she had enough hits to sustain a full halftime show. Cardi has already established herself as one of the most successful female rappers in history with platinum-certified albums, a Grammy, and numerous Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits.

Cardi is obviously playing the long game, regardless of whether or not people agree with her choice. She is waiting until she is fully prepared to take over one of the most recognizable stages in music, and she intends to make sure the show is one to remember.
