Libya’s NOC will host a joint US energy forum to increase investment in gas and oil
The National Oil Corporation (NOC), which is run by the government of Libya, said on Sunday that it would soon hold an energy forum between Libya and the United States. The goal of the forum is to increase partnerships and investment in Libya’s oil and natural gas sector.
Libya is one of Africa’s biggest oil suppliers, but production has been interrupted many times in the ten years since the uprising that ousted Muammar Gaddafi and caused the country to split into two parts with competing governments in the east and west.
The event, which doesn’t have a date yet, will be held with the help of the U.S. company Freedom First. An NOC statement said that high-level officials and investors from Libya as well as leaders from major U.S. energy companies will be there.
NOC just made an agreement with the big American oil company ExxonMobil (XOM.N), opens in new tabafter being inactive in Libya for ten years because of safety concerns.
