John Legend is scheduled to embark on a 20th anniversary tour

John Legend’s global tour promises to be a celebration filled with appreciation and joy.

The 46-year-old singer is gearing up to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Get Lifted, his celebrated debut album, and John has shared some insights into his approach for the tour.

He shared with People: “Get Lifted introduced me to the world, and now, 20 years later, I have the opportunity to celebrate that milestone with those who’ve been with me since day one, as well as new fans who’ve found the album along the way.”

“Returning to these songs and performing them live once more has been truly meaningful. This is a time for joy and appreciation.

John announced that the tour will include some “surprise guests, and plenty of love.”

He stated, “We’re performing the complete Get Lifted album live, featuring some new elements, unexpected guests, and an abundance of love.” We also include some of my most significant hits from throughout my career.

John is committed to prioritizing his well-being during the tour, guaranteeing that he can provide unforgettable performances for his devoted fans.

Regarding his tour routines, John mentioned: “I prioritize self-care – engaging in workouts, stretching, meditating, napping, and ensuring I stay hydrated.” I tend to keep my conversations to a minimum throughout the day to preserve my voice for the performance. Naturally, I consistently maintain a connection with my family. It fills me with immense happiness.

John has shared that Kanye West and Lauryn Hill were among his greatest inspirations for the Get Lifted album.

The singer, who is married to model Chrissy Teigen, shared with Time magazine: “We knew that neo-soul had had its time.” I aimed for a more impactful experience, with a grander sound and melodies that were sharper and edgier, rather than smooth.

“Much of the neo-soul during that period resembled ad-libs and open mics, akin to a poetry session where individuals were scatting their way through the song.” I viewed The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill as a significant source of inspiration that blended soul, hip-hop, reggae, and gospel. Kanye West’s College Dropout served as a significant source of inspiration as well.
