WWE Declares John Cena’s Retirement Date Officially
John Cena will leave WWE for good on December 13.
After becoming a star in professional wrestling, the 17-time world champion will have his last match at Saturday Night’s Main Event later this year. This will be the end of his farewell tour.
A new deal between WWE and Peacock was announced by NBC Sports. The deal says that Peacock will only watch two nights of Saturday Night’s Main Events this year, with the first one starting on November 1. Also, John Cena will be retiring in the main event of Saturday Night’s Raw on December 13.
A few months ago, NBCU showed Saturday Night’s Main Event every two months.
In places around the world, like the UK, the special events will still be shown on YouTube.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s chief content officer, said, “We’re excited to bring Saturday Night’s Main Event exclusively to Peacock starting this fall.”
“NBCU has been a great partner for a long time, and we hope to keep working with them for many years to come.”
WWE already said that its top-level live events will move to ESPN in the US starting September 20, when the new PLE Wrestlepalooza starts.
It was originally planned for the deal to begin in 2026, but it has been moved up. Users in the UK and other countries will still be able to watch WWE events on Netflix.
At Wrestlepalooza and next week’s Clash in Paris, Cena will also be wrestling. He will be facing Logan Paul.
The actor, who is 48 years old, said that one reason he’s quitting in four months is because of his age.
“Age plays a role,” he told PEOPLE magazine. I used to be stronger and faster, but now I’m not.
When I became famous, I promised myself that I would go even when I was a step slower. There will be kids just as hungry as me who deserve a chance to see if they can make it.
