The Muppets’ Broadway Debut Is Finally Announced
The Broadway premiere of The Muppets is scheduled for later this year.
Beginning on October 28, the renowned puppet comedy company, which includes well-known figures like Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and Fozzy Bear, will perform alongside illusionist Rob Lake at the Broadhurst Theatre. The performance will formally debut on November 6 and run until January 18.
Kermit and “some of his friends from The Muppets” are confirmed to be featured in Rob Lake Magic with Special Guests.
Magician Rob stated in a statement: “I’ve been doing magic all my life, and having my performance on Broadway has always been my biggest ambition.
Like a lot of people worldwide, I grew up with The Muppets.
For them to appear in my performance, working with them to create new illusions has been the most fulfilling and unexpectedly familiar experience.
“I feel like I’ve known them for my whole life.”
Although the characters attempted to make it happen in the 1984 film The Muppets Take Manhattan, this will be the first Broadway performance of The Muppets.
In 2023, a Sesame Street musical ran off Broadway, and they previously performed live in Las Vegas with Nancy Sinatra in the 1970s.
Nevertheless, Jim Henson’s Broadway aspirations were not fulfilled prior to his passing in 1990.
Kermit stated: “There is nothing like live theatre in New York City” in a video promoting the upcoming production.
A “dream come true” coupling for the run has been promised by Glass Half Full Productions’ producers Joe Quenqua and Gareth Lake.
They said: “We are thrilled that Broadway audiences will finally be able to marvel at Rob Lake’s extraordinary talents after years of touring the world.”
“It is truly a dream come true for all of us to combine his incredible illusions with The Muppets and their unique brand of classic humor!”
