Victoria Kimani On Her Legendary Run, Upcoming Songs, Record Labels, And Industry Expertise Acquired Over Time

Victoria Kimani has had a very successful music career since making her breakthrough with her soaring “Mtoto” debut in 2013. The “China Love” singer has accumulated a wealth of industry expertise because of her innumerable hits, unquestionable sense of style, and strong respect for the industry.

The world-traveling singer was interviewed by The Sauce, who also obtained an update on her current activities.

Comic Book: Badman Killa

As badass as they come, her most recent track is amazing. Kimani refers to the Diplo-coproduced song, “Badman Killa,” as “the underdog anthem for people that build and eat in silence.” She claims that while she recorded the song’s first verse years ago, she just finished the second stanza a few weeks before the song was released. In the months to come, she says, there will be additional singles with a similar aesthetic. To top it all off, she published a comic book that essentially supports the song’s ideas.

City of Chocolate

The gifted singer-songwriter was first contracted to the Nigerian musical label Chocolate City, which released her debut album, “Safari.” Kimani left the label after five years in order to pursue her own musical endeavors. Since then, she has independently released four studio albums: Afropolitan, Afreaka, Spirit, and her most recent LP, Mood 4 Life. She acknowledges that this is not always an easy task. “When you’re on a label, you have a group of people with various tasks allocated to you. If something goes wrong, you can hold them accountable. “You only have yourself to blame as an independent artist,” she argues.

From Plan to Stage

The singer of “Show” has created a new nine-module online course for women in the entertainment industry as part of her charitable endeavors. What inspired her to develop the course, she explains, is all the valuable lessons she wished someone had taught her when she was just starting out. “So much time and effort could have been saved if someone had held my hand back then. Regarding the 59-lesson course, she continues, “This is my way of doing what I wish somebody had done for me.”

The Docu Series

Shortly after landing her record deal with Chocolate City, Kimani shot her first reality TV program, “The Rise of Queen Victoria.” In order to share her own tale, she is currently working on a series of documents. “I adore watching documentaries. Throughout my career, I have several stories I have never shared. Songs that have stolen from me, along with a plethora of other experiences I have had but have never talked about. A document series, in my opinion, is a fantastic method to bring people from the past into the present.

Prior to the release of her sixth album, she intends to release a song each month, with the next one scheduled for release before the end of August.
