Rwanda and Qatar sign an agreement to increase local medication manufacturing and accessibility

Philex Pharmaceuticals and Rwanda Medical Supply Limited have inked a long-term contract to increase access to necessary medications in Rwanda, such as those for cardiology and oncology.

Igor Marara, Rwanda’s ambassador to Qatar, signed the deal on the country’s behalf on August 17 in Doha.

On its official X account, the Rwandan Embassy in Qatar posted the news, characterizing the collaboration as a step toward enhancing healthcare collaboration between Rwanda and Qatar.

In order to localize the manufacture of Philex’s solid dosage forms in Rwanda, Philex Pharmaceuticals also entered into a joint venture and technology transfer agreement with Labophar Ltd, a pharmaceutical firm based in Rwanda.

Pascal Gatete, the CEO of Labophar, and Waseem Hamad, the CEO and partner at Philex, inked the joint venture.
