Jason Momoa Nearly Died in a Surfing Accident
The Aquaman actor went on a long paddle across Hawaiian waters in 2007 when his leg rope broke in severe wind while he was navigating Pe’ahi, Maui’s largest surf break, often known as Jaws. He was initially “fine,” even though the waves crashed down on him.
He stated on the Smartless podcast: “We went in at Jaws when I was doing this paddle. We paddled about thirteen miles along the shore. My leash broke, and you were kind of a mile offshore. It’s really windy on Maui, and my leash broke about seven miles in. I was all right because I had been schooled rather properly. Quite a few hit me in the head. Approximately ten feet in size, they resemble Hawaiian waves. But at that point offshore, I’m probably half a mile away.
There’s a passage there where all this water pushes out, and you just get slammed by these waves.
As Jason waited to be rescued, he became “stuck” and his body started to “give up” on him.
“I was trapped in this crazy place, which is probably the outer reef and I didn’t know it,” he added. They were unable to see me since I was actually on the outer reef.
“The waves were so large that I was unable to see them as I was waving my paddle.
“After spending some time outside, I simply couldn’t see anyone coming to retrieve me. After a while of being out there, my arms and legs gave up and I was unable to move any more. I froze. As though I had bubbled down and was no longer able to move my arms.
My toe then struck the outside reef. I am screaming within because I literally gave up.
It wasn’t an easy trip back to shore, but one of the actor’s surfing pals eventually located him.
“We begin paddling after I get back on the board,” he remarked. “You have to go out,” he says, so we continue paddling out.
The couple lost their boards due to “brutal waves,” and currents prevented them from heading directly to the performance.
Jason went on: “I still have seven miles to paddle.” Blood is all over my feet, and I’m literally paddling the remaining distance with my forefathers, head down, and we’re out.
The actor from Chief of War, who had two children with his ex-wife Lisa Bonet, Lola, age 18, and Nakoa-Wolf, age 16, returned to shore and immediately gave up his dangerous smoking habit.
He claimed to have smoked two or three packs a day at one point. For the sake of my children, my ex, and myself, I was unable to quit smoking.
And I didn’t smoke again after coming out.
Like, I just passed away. I kept trying, but I simply gave up and was unable to repeat the process. I sacrificed my life, like.
