Kenyans Respond to TikToker Cashmeer Sayyid’s New Business Venture Revealed at a False Wedding on Social Media

Cashmeer Sayyid, a well-known software engineer and video creator, ignited social media this past weekend after organizing what many thought was her wedding, only for visitors to learn it was actually the grand opening of a new business.

The opulent ceremony, which was co-hosted by her sister, certified nursing assistant Kay Sayyid, took place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, and marked the formal opening of Bollington, a vocational training facility that will provide courses in beauty, technology, fashion, hospitality, and certified nursing assistant training.

Cashmeer had deftly established the tone for a wedding narrative on her social media accounts in the days preceding the ceremony. In order to generate a lot of excitement and conjecture, she initially teased her fans with a video of a proposal in which she purposefully obscured her “soon-to-be husband’s” face behind an emoji.

She further persuaded her audience and followers that she was getting ready to walk down the aisle by posting “32-hours to my wedding” a few days before to the big day.

Dozens of prominent influencers and social media personalities, all dressed to impress, attended the event with a black and gold theme. After being misled into thinking they were seeing Cashmeer marry her “love of her life,” attendees discovered she was talking about her new school. Cashmeer introduced Bollington with all the glitz and ceremony of a wedding, dressed in a white suit and black tie.

Guests left the event with diverse opinions in response to the unexpected turn of events; some praised the inventiveness, while others expressed disappointment and feelings of betrayal.

Influencer and Instagram model Winnie Njenga vented her annoyance in a TikTok video after shelling out approximately KSh 60,000 for her ensemble. She disclosed that Jay C, the event’s MC, had postponed the program in anticipation of the “bride,” only for guests to discover afterwards that there was no groom in sight. “Hello ni kutumia watu, very… She bemoaned, “Hello, nguo yangu napeleka wapi?”

Similar opinions were expressed by TikTok star Trisha Khalid, who disclosed that she had taken out loans, including purchasing dental veneers on credit, in order to get ready for what she believed to be a wedding. She criticized the lack of transparency and stated, “I should have invested that money.”

Other influencers, such as Hannah Benta, revealed that they had intended to produce content for the occasion and had brought wedding presents. “We were totally unprepared,” she remarked.

Pritty Vishy disclosed that in order to attend, she had even halted her recuperation after a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). She responded, clearly concerned, “I had to call a nearby pharmacy for pain meds.”

Despite the criticism, Cashmeer was also praised and supported.

Known as Kanjo Lady, businesswoman Ntanzola Gloria praised Cashmeer for her audacious decision and disclosed that she had spent about KSh 1 million to attend at the event. She said, “You’ve done me proud,” after naming singer and fashion influencer Rapho the “Best Dressed.” You have to marry your hustling as a woman.

Bantu Girl, her sister, defended the event, saying that critics should have just remained away and that no one was compelled to go.

Cashmeer was also defended by influencer Shorn Arwa, who described the occasion as “genuine showbiz.” She commended her friend’s drive and foresight, stating that the ceremony had vows to Bollington, opulent décor, and a full wedding-style reception—minus the husband.

Cashmeer gave an explanation of her reasoning for the special launch in a social media post. She disclosed that she was inspired by a previous relationship in which her ex-boyfriend constantly brought up the fact that she had dropped out of school. She stated, “I decided to make money off of my trauma,” and expressed her hope that Bollington will eventually become a university.
