US and Jordan will meet to discuss rebuilding Syria
Jordan will meet with U.S. and Syrian officials Tuesday to discuss aiding in Syria’s reconstruction following over ten years of war and the overthrow of former leader Bashar al-Assad in December due to an Islamist-led uprising.
Jordan’s foreign ministry announced Sunday that U.S. envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani would be attending.
Damascus inked 12 deals totaling $14 billion on Wednesday, including a $2 billion agreement with the national investment corporation of the United Arab Emirates to develop a subway in the Syrian capital and a $4 billion agreement with Qatar’s UCC holding to build a new airport.
