Lady Gaga is up for the most MTV Video Music Awards in 2025

Lady Gaga has been nominated for 12 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), which is the most of any artist.

This is the third time in VMA history that the pop star has been nominated for the most awards. No other artist has ever done that.

After Gaga’s strong performance, Bruno Mars (11 nods) and Kendrick Lamar (10) come in close behind.

Rosé and Sabrina Carpenter, two other popular pop artists, are not far behind. Each has eight nods, including for Best Pop and Artist of the Year. They are joined by Ariana Grande and The Weeknd, who each got seven nominations.

Charli XCX is up for five awards, including Best Collaboration and Video of the Year. Billie Eilish is up for six awards.

A lot of big names in music got four nods each, like Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus, and Tate McRae.

This year, there are two new categories: Best Country Artist and Best Pop Artist.

Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, Lamar, Gaga, Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd will all be in the running for Artist of the Year. Gigi Perez, Ella Langley, Lola Young, Sombr, and The Marías are all up for Best New Artist.

Kendrick Lamar (GNX), Bad Bunny (Debí Tirar Más Fotos), Lady Gaga (Mayhem), Morgan Wallen (I’m the Problem), Sabrina Carpenter (Short n’ Sweet), and The Weeknd (Hurry Up Tomorrow) are all in the running for Best Album.

On Sunday, September 7, at the UBS Arena in New York City, a party with lots of famous people will name the winners. The awards show will be shown live on both CBS and MTV at the same time for the first time. The show will also be streamed on Paramount+ for fans all over the world.
