Ozzy Osbourne will receive a special tribute at the MTV Video Music Awards this year

There will be a special Ozzy Osbourne homage during the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) this year.

Van Toffler, who worked at MTV for almost thirty years, just signed a contract with Sky and MTV through his production and distribution business Gunpowder, and he will play a significant part in the ceremony on September 7.

Because of their popular reality show The Osbournes, which ran from 2002 to 2005, the rock legend’s family is well-known on MTV. They want to give the 76-year-old Black Sabbath leader a dignified send-off in the wake of his death on Tuesday, July 22.

Because Ozzy was such a significant player in music history and the family [had] such an impact on MTV history, we must recognize that. Toffler told Variety, “I have no doubt we will spend the next month figuring out the proper tribute and send off to Ozzy on the Video Music Awards.”

Years before shows like Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Real Housewives had people captivated, the former MTV boss helped pioneer the notorious reality television.

In the early 2000s, when reality television was at its height, Toffler told the outlet: “I don’t think we’d ever had someone over 50 on any show on MTV in its history.”

We shot a little with the Osbournes and were looking to launch Cribs. We all kind of glanced at each other and said, ‘There’s some amazing, fortuitous mayhem and insanity in this house that people would gobble up.

What a musical, chaotic, dysfunctional, and loving family they were. We continued shooting for years after it suddenly struck us to do so.

In a statement, Ozzy’s family announced his passing, saying: “We must report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne passed away this morning with more sadness than words can express.” He was surrounded by affection and with his family.

“At this time, we ask that everyone respect the privacy of our family. Louis, Aimee, Kelly, Jack, and Sharon.

Only a few weeks had passed since the Mr. Crowley singer’s July 5 farewell performance in Birmingham.
