Stephen Colbert’s Reaction To Donald Trump After The Late Show Was Cut

Donald Trump has been advised to “go f*** yourself” by Stephen Colbert.

Following last week’s announcement that the long-running talk show, which was previously hosted by David Letterman, will end in May 2026 after more than three decades on air, the 61-year-old host of the Late Show responded after the President of the United States posted a gleeful reaction saying he “absolutely loves that Colbert got fired.”

In a post on Trust Social, Trump further asserted that “his talent was even less than his ratings.”

The host of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert joked during his opening monologue on Monday’s episode: “How dare you, sir?

“Could the following satirical witticism be written by an untalented man?”

As the presenter said, “Go f*** yourself,” an on-screen frame with the title, “Eloquence Cam,” appeared.

Colbert also brought up Trump’s assertion that Jimmy Kimmel would be fired next.

“Nope, no, no,” he joked. Not at all. I am the martyr, Kimmel.

Only one person can fit on this cross. And from up here, the view is amazing. Your house is visible to me!

Colbert stated that he would speak “unvarnished truth to power” during the final ten months of his and the legendary show’s run.

“People, I’m going to say it: Cancel culture has gone too far,” he hinted. It dawned on us over the weekend that they are destroying our show.

However, they erred in leaving me alive. And the gloves are off for the next ten months.

“I can now, for the first time, tell the truth to power and express my true feelings on Donald Trump.

“I’m not fond of him. lacks the qualifications to serve as president. It’s just not a good fit.

Colbert reaffirmed that CBS has “always been great partners,” but he questioned their assertion that the show’s termination was a “purely financial decision.”

“If ‘The Late Show’ has the highest ratings, how could it be solely a financial decision?” he inquired.

The announcement followed a $16 million settlement reached between Trump and CBS parent company Paramount Global over his claims that Kamala Harris’ 60 Minutes appearance had been falsely altered.

As Paramount awaits FDA permission for its acquisition with Skydance, Colbert called the transaction a “big, fat bribe” on his show after the settlement.

Other late-night hosts, including Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Andy Cohen, John Oliver, Anderson Cooper, John Stewart, as well as Christopher McDonald and Adam Sandler, joined Colbert in other parts of Monday’s show to parody the recently circulated Coldplay kiss-cam footage.

“I don’t want this show to be associated with making you feel depressed or anxious,” Colbert stated.

I reasoned, “Music, okay? Doesn’t that make folks happy? Therefore, two musical greats are here with a song to lift your spirits in place of my speaking.

As the “couples” appeared on screen, Lin-Manuel Miranda and “Weird Al” Yankovic sang Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida.”

“I just got this note from corporate,” Colbert joked. They have canceled your song. “This is a purely financial decision,” it states.
