Mariah Carey Hints at Long-Awaited Album Details

Mariah Carey has hinted that Monday will see the release of information about her eagerly anticipated new album.

Over the weekend, the 56-year-old pop sensation announced on social media that more details regarding her 16th studio album, MC16, which has not yet been named, will soon be available.

Mariah shared a video on July 20th that honored her albums, starting with MC1 (her self-titled debut album from 1990) and ending with MC15 (Caution), released in 2018.

The letter “MC16” was flashed by the Obsessed hitmaker at the conclusion of the 37-second video montage, and the title “MC16 – Announcement Tomorrow” appeared on X.

Mariah shared the same video on her Instagram Stories, but this time the countdown ticker was frozen and read “19:06:42.”

The day after showcasing her new single, Sugar Sweet, the legend hinted at a new album.

In a video of her baking something in a kitchen on July 19, Mariah gave her fans a preview of the playful song, which has the words, “Imma keep it nice, Imma keep it neat, Imma keep it sugar, Imma keep it sweet.”

With one of her popular songs, Mariah reached a remarkable milestone in June.

The 1995 song Fantasy by the R&B and pop artist was listened to by over 500 million people on Spotify, a music streaming service.

From September 30 to November 18, 1995, Mariah’s ninth number one single, Fantasy, topped the US Billboard Hot 100 list for eight weeks.

It was also only the second single to debut at the top of the chart after Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone,” and the first track by a female artist to do so.

Written by Mariah, Steven Stanley, Adrian Belew, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth, and Dave Hall, Fantasy tells the story of a lady who is in love with a man and fantasizes about dating him whenever she sees him.

In a recent interview, Mariah, 56, expressed her surprise at the number of individuals who could relate to Fantasy.

“A lot of people didn’t think I should do that song,” she remarked in a June interview with 98.5 KRZ. Why would I collaborate with O.D.B.? because they were unaware that I had made that decision.

“In any case, it became one of my favorite songs and one of my biggest hits ever.”

Mariah now has four songs that have achieved this feat. The other three are the holiday hit All I Want For Christmas Is You from 1994, which has received over two billion streams, We Belong Together from 2005, which has received over 777 million listens, and Obsessed from 2009, which has received nearly 600 million streams.
