Drop Monday! The New Album by Tyler, the Creator, “Don’t Tap the Glass,” Has an Unexpected Release Date

Tyler the Creator is violating industry conventions by releasing his new album, “Don’t Tap the Glass,” on Monday, July 21.

Fans of Tyler, great news! The official announcement of Tyler the Creator’s upcoming album has been made. On Monday, July 21, the album, Don’t Tap the Glass, will be released. After the rapper sent out subliminal messages for a week, the announcement created a lot of interest.

The revelation broke during a concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Friday night, in typical Tyler manner, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The audience was immediately excited when the rapper revealed the album title. The news was further reinforced by the presentation of an installation that replicated the album’s cover, prominently displaying the title. Tyler the Creator then formally verified the news on Saturday morning in an Instagram post that announced the new album’s release date.

Tyler will release his ninth studio album, “Don’t Tap the Glass.” His last project, Chromakopia, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in October 2024, and it was released less than a year later. Among the well-known characters in Chromakopia were Lil Wayne, Sexyy Red, Daniel Caesar, Doechii, GloRilla, LaToiya Williams, Lola Young, Santigold, Schoolboy Q, and Teezo Touchdown. Interestingly, Chromakopia was also published on a Monday, which deviates from the industry’s custom of releasing it at midnight on Fridays. This means that his second project to depart from the conventional release rollout will be Don’t Tap the Glass, which will be distributed by Columbia Records.

Tyler the Creator’s New Album: Breaking Conventions and Increasing Creative Audience

Tyler’s inclination for early-week releases is rooted in a certain worldview. In an interview with Nardwuar in 2023, he explained his logic.

“For some reasons, I believe we should release music again on Tuesdays rather than Fridays,” he clarified. “My reasoning is that I am aware that people believe they can listen to things because it’s the weekend, and that’s why the streams increase. “Oh, the streams go up on the weekend,” the streaming community responds. However, I believe that there is a lot of passive listening going on; those that have time to go to the gym or attend parties aren’t actually paying attention.

It just seems so insulting, he continued, “to work on an album for so long and put so much energy into it and then have it released at midnight.”

Throughout the interview, the rapper also talks about how difficult it is to find venues where he can talk about his work in a professional way.

Tyler stated, “We must return to discussing music.” “We must take an hour off from f***ing deepthroating hot wings and f***ing sneaker buying. Discuss your album and the music.

Tyler is achieving notable success in the film sector in addition to his well-known and successful singing career. He finished filming Josh Safdie’s much awaited thriller, “Marty Supreme,” earlier this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. With a stellar ensemble that includes Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow, the movie is slated for A24’s Christmas Day 2025 release. Tyler, a Grammy-winning artist, producer, fashion designer, and creative director, will be making his feature film acting debut with this production, which will broaden his already impressive resume.
