Damon Dash is required to appear in court or risk going to jail
The court referenced a “pattern of non-compliance and delay.”
Damon Dash has been threatened with arrest until he shows up for court. The 54-year-old had previously neglected to provide ownership documentation related to a $4 million judgment, as AllHipHop exclusively reported. Dash and his Poppington LLC failed to appear for a court date earlier this month, prompting U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger to issue the summons.
The New York native now has until July 31 to turn in paperwork attesting to their ownership of many companies and other copyrights. The report states that the U.S. Marshal needs the paperwork in order to sell the assets at public auction and fulfill the aforementioned judgment.
After observing a “pattern of non-compliance and delay,” Judge Lehrburger mandated that Dash make an in-person appearance to give an explanation.
The judge issued a warning earlier this year that the Hip-Hop mogul would face severe legal repercussions for his ongoing disregard for court restrictions. His lawyers recently submitted a motion to withdraw, stating that they were unable to convince him to follow the court’s directives. Allegedly, Dash has refused to provide his asset records.
According to reports, he told his legal team that it would be “futile” to do so and demanded that they “wait for the bankruptcy process” to settle the matter.
In March 2025, Dash alleged that Josh Webber “stole” from him during his appearance on the Earn Your Leisure podcast, leading to the $4 million judgment against Webber. According to Webber, the criticism cost him $4 million in possible revenue from a producing and directing position.
A long-standing disagreement over the movie Dear Frank is the root of Webber and Dash’s feud. As to the initial lawsuit submitted in 2019, the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records was employed to assist in co-directing Dear Frank in 201, but was dismissed from the set due to unsuitable conduct. Despite lacking the necessary connections, Webber asserted that Dash persisted in promoting and trying to sell the film after being fired from the production.
