Mbappe of Real Madrid is dealing with a thigh issue

French striker Kylian Mbappe of Real Madrid is doubtful for next week’s FIFA Intercontinental Cup final after the La Liga team announced on Thursday that he has been diagnosed with a left thigh injury.

After giving his team the lead with a goal in the tenth minute of Real Madrid’s 3-2 Champions League victory over Atalanta on Tuesday, Mbappe was substituted during the first half.

Mbappe experienced an overload and ischial (lower pelvic) pain, according to Real manager Carlo Ancelotti, who later stated that he did not think the injury was significant but that he would have to wait for the youngster to be evaluated.

Mbappe, who also scored in Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Girona last weekend, is expected to miss Saturday’s league match against Rayo Vallecano and will have to compete to be ready for the Intercontinental Cup final in Qatar on Wednesday.

On Saturday, Real will play either Pachuca of Mexico or Al Ahly of Egypt.
