Ghana midfielder Partey has signed with Al-Shabab
Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has officially signed a one-year deal with Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab, as announced by the club on Friday. This move follows his departure from Villarreal at the conclusion of his contract last season.
In Britain, authorities have charged Partey with seven counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault, allegations he has denied. He entered a plea of not guilty to the charges of rape and sexual assault concerning three women.
The 33-year-old was unable to participate in Ghana’s World Cup match against Panama in June due to the refusal of his visa application to enter Canada. Under Canadian law, foreign nationals may be deemed inadmissible even in the absence of a foreign conviction.
Partey made 32 appearances for LaLiga side Villarreal last season, but the club chose not to renew his contract.
