Drake’s residence reportedly became the focus of a swatting incident, with Akademiks suggesting that there may be a larger situation at play

Akademiks claims that Drake and Larry Jackson were targeted following his own swatting incident; however, neither individual has publicly verified these assertions.

DJ Akademiks is expressing worries regarding what he describes as a series of swatting incidents involving himself, Drake, and Larry Jackson; however, crucial details related to the purported events are still unverified.

In a recent livestream, Akademiks asserted that Drake has become the latest individual to be targeted by a false emergency call. The streamer mentioned that Drake was swatted “yesterday.” He also asserted that Larry Jackson of Gamma had faced a similar incident, implying that he suspects a connection between the two situations. Neither Drake nor Jackson had publicly acknowledged the allegations when the outlet released its report on August 19.

The claim regarding Drake’s swatting incident introduces an additional dimension to Akademiks’ recent experience. On August 12, Akademiks was livestreaming when police arrived at his residence following a report that multiple individuals had allegedly been shot and killed inside the home. Authorities conducted an investigation and concluded that the emergency call was a hoax.

Akademiks later indicated that the incident occurred due to the subjects he had been addressing on his stream, which included Roc Nation and Desiree Perez.

Now, Akademiks seems to think that his experience was not unique.

“There’s some serious stuff going on that’s not just fantasy,” Akademiks said.

That statement might ignite speculation regarding the Drake swatting claim; however, a significant gap remains between Akademiks’ allegation and independent verification.

Swatting is significantly more serious than merely an online prank. “Swatting” refers to the act of making a false report to emergency services, usually by alleging that there is an urgent threat to an individual’s life, as stated by the FBI. The objective is frequently to elicit a significant law enforcement reaction at the location of an unsuspecting individual. The FBI cautions that such incidents can lead to disorder, endanger both victims and officers, and redirect emergency resources away from genuine emergencies.

Drake is not the first prominent figure from Young Money to experience a swatting incident. His longtime labelmate Nicki Minaj has faced scrutiny on multiple occasions. In April 2025, authorities arrived at Minaj’s Hidden Hills residence following a false report from a caller claiming that a woman had been shot and that armed suspects were present at the location.
Deputies discovered no signs of criminal activity and concluded that the report was a swatting call. In 2023, Minaj encountered comparable turmoil when TMZ reported that false calls alleged child abuse and inaccurately stated that her home was ablaze, leading to a response from authorities.

For celebrities and online personalities, the risk of a false emergency report is particularly worrisome, as their home addresses, daily routines, and livestream locations may become targets for harassment.

Drake has not provided any confirmation or denial regarding these claims.
