Burnham took on the leadership of the Labour Party on Friday and is anticipated to detail the key priorities of his new government. His administration is expected to explore various policy initiatives, with signs suggesting that a reduction in income tax may be one of the options being considered.
The new prime minister is anticipated to start reshaping his government later on Monday, with the appointment and dismissal of ministers as he forms his cabinet.
Ahead of the cabinet changes, Prisons Minister Lord Timpson submitted his resignation on Monday morning.
