Iran Says No to Talks with the US The foreign minister says that Washington is breaking the interim deal
Iran has dismissed the possibility of talks with the US, stating that negotiations cannot restart as long as Washington persists in violating the June interim agreement.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, stated that Tehran and Washington are not currently engaged in negotiations, although communication between the two sides is still being conveyed through intermediaries.
Araqchi reaffirmed Tehran’s stance that any forthcoming interactions with the United States would be contingent upon Washington fulfilling its obligations under the June interim agreement.
On the Strait of Hormuz, Araqchi stated that Iran and Oman were nearing the completion of an agreement regarding the strategic waterway.
However, he clarified that the agreement would not promptly reopen the strait to international shipping.
Comments reported by Mehr News Agency indicate that the proposed arrangement would create new shipping routes for vessels to utilize once the United States meets additional conditions set by Tehran and the waterway is reopened.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital global shipping route, transporting a substantial portion of the world’s oil supplies.
Araqchi’s remarks come as diplomatic channels between Tehran and Washington remain active through intermediaries, despite the lack of direct negotiations.
