Two-time champion Jonas Vingegaard withdraws from the Tour de France following a crash in stage 15

Two-time Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard, who was in second place overall behind Tadej Pogacar, withdrew from the race on Sunday after a crash during stage 15 that resulted in his right arm being placed in a sling.

Vingegaard and his Visma-Lease a Bike teammate Sepp Kuss were involved in a crash alongside Pogacar’s UAE Team Emirates-XRG teammates Isaac del Toro and Brandon McNulty, with approximately 20km remaining in Sunday’s stage. Dane Vingegaard appeared to be in significant discomfort before he was transported in an ambulance.

The remaining three were able to proceed.

Four-time winner Pogacar held a lead of four minutes and 30 seconds over Vingegaard in the general classification as he entered the stage.
