Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, widely recognized as Burna Boy, has come together with Colombian singer Shakira during rehearsals for their upcoming performance at the FIFA World Cup final halftime show, set to take place on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
The reunion followed Burna Boy’s post on his X account, where he shared a video of the two embracing and smiling during rehearsals. He shared the clip in anticipation of the World Cup final, where they are set to perform the tournament’s official anthem, Dai Dai, during FIFA’s inaugural Super Bowl-style halftime show.
Sharing the video, Burna Boy expressed: “Sunday Prep! @shakira Looking forward to seeing you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! “Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go.
The video captured Burna Boy and Shakira sharing warm hugs outside the production trailers at the stadium as they got ready for the performance.
FIFA previously revealed that Burna Boy and Shakira would take center stage at the tournament’s inaugural halftime show, performing Dai Dai, the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The duo had previously showcased the song at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City.
To enhance the entertainment segment, the traditional halftime interval is anticipated to be lengthened to approximately 30 minutes. The break will feature the typical match analysis, complemented by an 11-minute musical performance led by Burna Boy and Shakira.
Other artists and performers scheduled for the halftime show include BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus with Coldplay, and characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets are also anticipated to make appearances.
FIFA announced that the halftime show will additionally promote global education initiatives for children.
The FIFA World Cup final will feature Argentina going up against Spain on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
