Will Smith is drawn into a legal dispute following his former friend’s loss of a case and financial setback involving Jada
Will Smith might have some things to say about the case of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and Bilaal Salaam!
The actor was asked to be questioned by a lawyer for a former friend who sued his wife for making threats at an event almost five years ago. The lawyer for the former friend named the actor in the request.
Since then, Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, has denied all charges of wrongdoing in the $3 million lawsuit that Bilaal Salaam filed in 2025.
An email from the actor’s former friend’s lawyers to Jada’s lawyers says that the friend’s lawyers have started a move to get Will to admit. Court records indicated that the email was sent on July 7 and asked the actor to come in for the interview, even though Jada’s team didn’t agree with it.
Will is not a party to the deposition, so the actress’s lawyer said there was no reason to bring him to the deposition table. According to TMZ’s report from the court document, Jada’s lawyers stated that Will has not received a subpoena requiring him to testify.
Jada’s latest filing asked the court to require Bilaal’s team to provide more proof, like medical records, to support his claims of emotional distress in the ongoing case. Bilaal’s latest motion was a response to that.

After being friends with Will for forty years, Bilaal sued Jada in 2025 for $3 million in damages, even though she had paid him nothing before.
(The Blast) In the lawsuit, Bilaal talked about how his relationship with Jada got worse and ended with a fight at Will’s 53rd birthday party in September 2021.
There, Jada is said to have approached Bilaal. He was accompanied by seven other people who also went into the Calabasas movie theater with him.
In his lawsuit, Bilaal said that after Jada came over, she made scary threats against him when they found out he was writing a book that might include details about his friendship with the Smiths.
Bilaal said that Will’s family had hired him to help resolve the problems caused by the slap incident between Will and Chris Rock at the Oscars. She remembered that Jada made him sign an NDA to keep quiet about her business and told him she would hurt him in several ways if he didn’t stop.
A person who used to be friends with Will Smith lost two important court cases against Jada Pinkett Smith.
In May, Jada won a big battle in her ongoing case with Bilaal when a judge spared her bank account the stress of having to pay for Bilaal’s legal fees. Instead, Bilaal was told to pay Jada’s legal fees for $32,836—a little less than the $49,200 that was originally asked for.
Not only that, but Jada also got some of his claims thrown out, which made things worse for Bilaal, who had tried months earlier to get a lifelong restraining order against Jada but failed.
In his request for a permanent restraining order, Bilaal said that the actress’s actions had caused him a lot of mental pain and had made him temporarily exclude the country from fear for his safety.
He went on to say that he also had problems with depression, nervousness, and not being able to sleep. The court thought there wasn’t enough proof to issue the protection order after hearing from both sides.
Jada denied bringing up the name of a former family friend in public.
According to a report shared by The Blast, Jada didn’t spend any time attacking every claim Bilaal made in his six-figure lawsuit. She insisted that there was no proof that she was the cause of his emotional and mental distress.
According to court documents, she emphasized that his assertion linking her involvement in his emotional issues to significant life changes, such as a breakup, moving, and weight gain, was insufficient to establish emotional harm by itself.
Jada said that medical records or other independent proof should be used to back up a claim of severe emotional distress. The mother of two also denied being a part of any plan to bring shame on Bilaal’s name, as he said.
Jada said that Bilaal’s claims were false and unproven. She also said that Bilaal was taking advantage of the attention surrounding the lawsuit to attack and harass her and her family without a reason.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith go through a big change in their personal lives while the case is still going on.
Will and Jada have consistently supported each other, regardless of the circumstances. This case is another excellent example of how close they are. But the star shocked everyone when she said that they had been living apart for years because they were no longer together after their 2016 breakup.
Recently, sources indicated that they may have altered their living arrangements to resemble their previous lifestyle. According to reports, Jada moved back into Will’s house about two years ago. She did this for no reason apart from love and respect for him.
News from early July calls into question a report from January that said they were still living in separate homes. Will and Jada Smith united to support their son Jaden Smith at Christian Louboutin’s Menswear Spring/Summer 2027 collection show during Paris Fashion Week last month.
Is Jada’s response strong enough to make a point?
