Yamal and Porro are training separately, but Spain anticipates that both will be fit for the World Cup final
Spain’s Lamine Yamal and Pedro Porro engaged in separate training from the rest of the squad on Thursday as they commenced their preparations in New Jersey for the World Cup final against Argentina on Sunday.
The duo rested on the field at one of Red Bull New York’s training facilities during the inaugural session for Luis de la Fuente’s team.
The Spanish football federation (RFEF) informed Reuters that both players are anticipated to be available for Sunday’s match, and their individual training was a precautionary measure as part of workload management.
De la Fuente stated following Spain’s semi-final victory against France that Porro had been dealing with an injury. Reuters reports that the full back has a hamstring strain, but the issue is not serious.
Yamal’s situation seems to be less worrisome. De la Fuente remarked after the match against France that the teenager had “nothing,” yet the physical toll from his encounters with Lucas Digne and Theo Hernandez was evident the next day, as the forward dealt with aches and bruises resulting from a challenging game.
Spain’s main focus is to guarantee that Yamal, Porro, and the entire squad are in peak condition for the final.
For the remainder of the squad, the 15 minutes of training accessible to the media went smoothly, with the players appearing relaxed and cheerful despite the humid conditions and temperatures hovering around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit).
Spain have three days to acclimate to the heat and humidity before competing in their second outdoor match of the tournament.
