France coach Deschamps makes his return to the World Cup following the passing of his mother
France coach Didier Deschamps has rejoined the national squad at the World Cup after a brief return home following the death of his mother, the country’s football federation announced on Saturday. “Didier is with us,” the federation stated in a message to the media.
Deschamps, who led France to triumph at the World Cup in 2018 and to the final in 2022, was absent during the 4-1 victory over Norway on Friday, which secured Les Bleus as the winners of Group I, providing them with a less exhausting travel itinerary moving forward.
France, based in Boston, is set to face Sweden in the Round of 32 in New Jersey on Tuesday.
