‘Gasoline prices better start going down’: Trump cautions oil companies regarding declining crude costs
Trump cautions oil companies while instructing the DOJ to look into fuel pricing practices throughout the US.
US President Donald Trump has claimed that major oil companies are overcharging consumers by keeping petrol prices high despite decreasing crude oil costs, asserting that this situation unfairly burdens consumers at the pump.
In a statement shared on Truth Social on Thursday, Trump asserted that oil prices had decreased significantly, yet he noted that these reductions were not being mirrored in the fuel costs for Americans.
“The major oil companies are keeping their prices at the pump high despite significantly lower oil prices,” Trump wrote.
He added: “Those prices are plummeting!” In other words, customers are being ‘exploited.’
Trump announced that he had instructed the US Department of Justice to promptly investigate the issue, indicating possible examination of pricing practices throughout the oil industry.
“I have directed the DOJ to commence an immediate investigation into the matter,” he stated.
The US president issued a warning to oil companies, emphasizing that motorists should start seeing lower prices in the near future.
“Gasoline prices need to decrease much more rapidly than what I’m currently observing!” Trump stated.
