Zaira Pitt, daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, graduates from Spelman. Sources say Pitt never even called to get a ticket
Now Zahara Jolie has graduated from college. The 21-year-old walked across the stage at Spelman College on May 17 to receive her Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She was beaming with joy as she took in the moment, and Angelina was there to cheer her on. She also got a minor in educational studies, which means she could work as an advocate, a counselor, an educator, or for a charity.
Zahara was introduced as Zahara Marley Jolie when she went on stage to take her diploma, which seemed to confirm that she had dropped her father’s last name. People who have been paying attention knew it was going to happen. She had already said her name was “Zahara Marley Jolie” when she joined the Spelman chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority a few years ago.
Zahara spoke at an Atlanta mother-daughter lunch for the Pearl of Purpose Foundation a few weeks before she graduated. Angelina also went. She talked about her close bond with her mom. “My mom and I share a unique, almost kindred relationship that can be difficult to articulate,” she said. This has never stopped my mom from being interested in everything I learn at Spelman, both in and out of school. She also said, “The woman I get to call my mom is the most selfless, loving, and understanding person I know.”
That link between mother and daughter was obvious at graduation, but Brad Pitt was missing. People who are close to Angelina say to TMZ, “Zahara’s mom and siblings, who have been involved for four very special years, were there and cheered her and her Spelman sisters on. ” The person went on to say, “Nothing stopped him from being there for her.” Or ever see her. That was pretty much all she did that day. She did not inquire about his willingness to attend. TMZ has learned that Brad did not talk to anyone about getting a ceremony ticket.
In 2016, Brad and Angelina got married. Two years later, in 2018, they got a divorce, which was finalized in 2024 after eight years of court fights. Zahara isn’t the only daughter who is moving away from her father. Shiloh filed papers with the court on her 18th birthday to get rid of the “Pitt” from her last name, and Vivienne and Maddox have also done things to go by just “Jolie.”
