Lewandowski Set to Depart Barcelona Following Four Seasons

Robert Lewandowski is set to depart from Barcelona this summer, having netted 119 goals in 191 appearances and secured three LaLiga titles.

Robert Lewandowski has declared his intention to depart from FC Barcelona at the conclusion of the season when his contract comes to an end, marking the conclusion of a successful four-year tenure in Spain.

The 37-year-old striker announced his decision on Saturday through an emotional Instagram post, just before Barça’s final home game of the season against Real Betis at Spotify Camp Nou.

“After four years filled with challenges and hard work, it’s time to move forward,” Lewandowski wrote. “I depart with the sense that the mission has been accomplished.”

Earlier this year, sources informed ESPN that Barcelona were willing to extend the veteran forward’s contract on reduced terms; however, Lewandowski chose not to continue beyond this season.

The Poland international has garnered attention from clubs throughout Europe, Saudi Arabia, and the United States, with Chicago Fire FC being one of the teams associated with a potential transfer.

Lewandowski netted 18 goals this season while Barcelona clinched LaLiga and the Spanish Supercopa, even as he shared striking responsibilities with Ferran Torres.

Since his transfer to Barça from FC Bayern Munich in 2022 for €45 million, Lewandowski has netted 119 goals in 191 appearances.

While in Catalonia, he contributed to Barcelona’s success by securing three LaLiga titles, three Supercopas, and one Copa del Rey.
