Kim Kardashian intervenes to cover the bail for Richard Glossip, an inmate on death row in Oklahoma, after 29 years

The SKIMS founder financed the bond to facilitate Glossip’s release from prison as he anticipates a new trial.

Richard Glossip, who has spent nearly 30 years on death row, has seen the gates of an Oklahoma prison open for him, thanks in part to Kim Kardashian’s significant effort.

An Oklahoma judge granted Glossip, who has steadfastly asserted his innocence since his arrest in the late 1990s, a $500,000 bond. A cash payment of $50,000, representing 10%, was necessary for his prompt release. Scott Budnick, an activist and film producer, announced on social media the exact moment when Glossip was released from custody. Budnick noted that the billionaire reality star promptly fulfilled the financial obligation, stating, “AFTER 29 YEARS INNOCENT ON OKLAHOMA’S DEATH ROW—RICHARD GLOSSIP WALKED OUT AS A FREE MAN THIS AFTERNOON.” He further confirmed that Kim “GRACIOUSLY paid for” the bond.

The protracted legal dispute commenced following the death of Barry Van Treese, a motel owner who had employed Glossip, in 1997. The state contended that Glossip orchestrated a murder-for-hire scheme, resulting in a capital conviction.

During his many years in prison, Glossip endured an extraordinarily harsh psychological burden, witnessing nine different execution dates set and requesting his final meal three times before being granted last-minute stays.

The case experienced a significant shift when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the conviction. The high court concluded that the state’s prosecution team permitted a crucial witness to provide false testimony under oath, fully aware of its inaccuracy, an action that severely undermined Glossip’s entitlement to a fair trial.

Although the state intends to proceed with a retrial, the attorney general’s office has announced that it will no longer seek the death penalty.

Alongside actress Susan Sarandon and advocate Jason Flom, Kim is part of a prominent group of influential individuals who have championed Ghislaine over the years.

As Kim pursues her legal education, her financial resources and public platform are actively transforming the lives of individuals affected by the justice system.
