Kenya increases retail fuel prices in response to the conflict in Iran
Kenya increased its retail fuel prices by up to 23.5% on Thursday, following a 24.2% rise the previous month. This adjustment comes in response to tightened global crude supplies and elevated energy prices resulting from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced in its statement that the price of a liter of petrol will rise to 214.25 Kenyan shillings ($1.66), an increase from the previous price of 206.97 shillings.
A liter of diesel will cost 242.92 Kenyan shillings, up from 196.63 shillings, while kerosene remains unchanged at 152.78 shillings for the period between May 15 and June 14, when new prices will be announced.
Kenya relies on imports for almost all of its fuel products, sourcing them from the Middle East through government-to-government agreements with Gulf suppliers.
