World Cup 2026: France vs. Senegal deemed high risk

Researchers from the World Weather Attribution (WWA) have expressed worries regarding the severe weather conditions anticipated during the 2026 World Cup in North America.

This Thursday, researchers released a report indicating that 26 out of the tournament’s 104 matches may occur under hazardous heat conditions as a result of climate change. Several fixtures held in open-air stadiums already seem quite concerning.

The upcoming match between France and Senegal, set for June 16 in East Rutherford, has been categorized as “high risk.” The meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time, with temperatures potentially reaching 38 degrees Celsius in dry conditions or surpassing 30 degrees in humid weather.

Concerns are increasingly rising regarding player safety and physical performance as teams get ready for another significant tournament anticipated to take place in extreme summer heat.
