Genevieve Nnaji Makes Her Comeback to Acting in BBC Drama ‘Wahala’

Genevieve Nnaji is making her return to acting with a role in the BBC drama series ‘Wahala.’

Nollywood actor Genevieve Nnaji is poised to make her return to the screen after a significant hiatus from acting, joining the cast of ‘Wahala,’ a new drama series produced by the BBC.

This week, the broadcaster revealed the casting for the six-part series, which is set to take place in London. The adaptation of the show draws from the novel by Nikki May, written by Theresa Ikoko. Four Nigerian-British women face challenges in their friendships, romantic relationships, and family dynamics due to hidden truths from their pasts.

The project signifies one of Nnaji’s significant acting comebacks since Lionheart. Following her departure from acting, she remained active in the industry by taking on the role of executive producer for I Do Not Come To You By Chance, a film adapted from the novel by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani.

Nnaji expressed her enthusiasm for her role in the series, stating, “I’m pleased to be joining Wahala and to be working with such a brilliant team.” It is a captivating narrative, and I am thrilled to be involved in it.

Ikoko expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I can’t wait to bring Wahala to life with this amazing cast, wonderful directors, and brilliantly talented crew.”

Wahala, a term from Nigeria meaning trouble, is being produced by Firebird Pictures in collaboration with BBC Studios and will be broadcast on BBC platforms.
