Usher Introduces New Internship Opportunity for Raymond and Brown Tour
The R&B star collaborates with the Boys & Girls Club to introduce a groundbreaking career program for young aspiring professionals.
Usher is ensuring that his forthcoming stadium tour with Chris Brown creates a lasting impact that transcends the music itself.
Usher’s New Look (UNL), through its nonprofit efforts, is introducing the Entertainment Industry Club: Live Touring Edition in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Detroit. This innovative workforce development program aims to help young individuals enter the multi-billion dollar live entertainment industry.
The initiative is taking 10 interns from Detroit and Atlanta on the road for the R&B: Raymond and Brown tour. Individuals aged 18 and older will have the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the business aspects of the industry, including production, wardrobe, and tour operations. Prior to embarking on their journey, the group will engage in extensive training to equip themselves for the dynamic atmosphere of a significant North American tour.
“At Usher’s New Look, we’ve always believed that while talent exists everywhere, access remains a challenge,” Usher stated in an official announcement. “This program is creating opportunities and enabling young professionals to learn, develop, and engage within the entertainment industry.”
The program extends beyond a select few on the road. The Spark Sessions: Making of the Tour will provide youth at Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide with an inside look at the logistics of the journey. Shawn Wilson, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Detroit and UNL co-founder, highlighted that this initiative transcends the notion of a mere temporary job.
“The live touring industry is a multi-billion dollar global business—however, access to the entertainment trades continues to be restricted,” Wilson remarked. “By collaborating, we are transforming the landscape by positioning young professionals on one of the most historic tours and converting access into genuine pathways to enduring careers.”
The Raymond and Brown tour is set to officially commence on June 26 in Denver, concluding in Tampa this December. The deadline for applications is quickly approaching; they will close at 11:59 P.M. on May 9. Interviews will take place in mid-May, and the 11-week internship is set to run from May 27 to August 10. Prospective applicants may access the application on the Usher’s New Look website.
