Union Berlin’s Eta celebrates Bundesliga’s first female head coach triumph

Union Berlin’s Marie-Louise Eta won her maiden match as the first female head coach in the German top league, defeating Mainz 05 3-1 on Sunday.

Eta, who received criticism on social media, was appointed interim manager in April after Steffen Baumgart was fired. He will oversee the team until the conclusion of the season before shifting to the women’s team next season.

Eta was pleased to see Union win their fourth game after two losses in her first two as manager, securing a point against Koln earlier this month.

“We’ve focused on achieving our daily goals of scoring points and winning games,” she stated.
You desire to win games and are joyful. This is always true, and it is also true today. The manner we executed it was really impressive.

“We have invested heavily. It’s nice to get three points and perform well today, according to Eta. “That’s important for me, too.”

Union will play Augsburg on Saturday in their last season meeting.
