Joe McCann, the fiancé of renowned content creator Ashly “Ashlee” Jenae Robinson, has publicly addressed the situation nearly a month following her unexpected passing.
Ashley Robinson died on April 9 while on a celebratory trip to Zanzibar, Tanzania. The announcement stunned her followers, arriving merely days after the couple revealed their engagement. The investigation into her death has garnered international attention, resulting in Tanzanian authorities temporarily seizing McCann’s travel documents; however, he has not been charged with any crime.
On Tuesday, McCann posted a heartfelt and detailed message on X, contemplating the deep sorrow he has endured. He characterized the situation as an “incomprehensible tragedy,” highlighting the profound personal loss experienced by the woman he planned to marry.
“I find myself at a loss for words to convey the profound devastation, emptiness, and shock that envelops me after the loss of my best friend, confidante, and fiancé, Ashly Jenae Robinson,” McCann wrote. He expressed his condolences to her parents, Yolanda Endres and Harry Robinson, noting that as a father himself, he feels “heartbroken” for their loss.
In his tribute, McCann redirected attention from Robinson’s online persona to her personal character. He portrayed her as a “nurturing presence” who “embodied the virtues of compassion, empathy, kindness, generosity, and love.” He reminisced about their everyday life, emphasizing her connection with his children and her culinary skills, remarking that she “fattened me up with her amazing cooking.” He also discussed her pride in her Trinidadian heritage and her extensive knowledge of music.
The most touching aspect of his statement focused on the future they had envisioned. McCann states that Robinson’s deepest desire was to begin a family.
“What Ashly longed for above all was to embrace motherhood and nurture a family together,” he expressed, adding that “she would have been an incredible mom.”
He finished by pledging to uphold her legacy and embody her values.
“Ashly was an angel who illuminated the lives of all who were lucky enough to be around her,” he wrote. “Ashly, my love for you is eternal.”
