Lizzo Declares Her Readiness to Testify in Harassment Lawsuit: “I’m Not Afraid of the Truth”
The Grammy-winning singer responds to harassment allegations while gearing up for her forthcoming project, “B*tch.”
Lizzo is resolutely addressing the legal issues that have loomed over her career for the past year.
During a recent interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, the singer candidly addressed the lawsuit filed by former backup dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez.
The allegations, encompassing claims of harassment and a toxic workplace, have been firmly denied by the performer, who expresses her willingness to defend her reputation in a courtroom rather than in private discussions.
“I believe that the majority would agree.” Lizzo expressed, “I believe it’s a simple way to avoid accountability, but I’m contesting the case because I am confident that it’s false.” She emphasized that opting for the “easy out” via a settlement is not a consideration for her, particularly in relation to the allegations of fat-shaming.
A judge had previously dismissed claims concerning weight shaming late last year; however, the remainder of the case is still ongoing. Lizzo conveyed her eagerness to King for the process to progress, enabling the complete story to unfold.
Listeners will have the opportunity to gain insight into her viewpoint via her artistic expression. Her forthcoming fifth album, titled “B*tch,” is poised to serve as the medium through which she unveils her personal experience of a trial. She quipped that she’ll “look fabulous while doing it” if she has to take the stand, yet her underlying message conveyed a strong sense of confidence in her defense.
“The truth will emerge, and that’s why I’m unafraid,” she stated. “I have no fear of the truth.” The reality is not as scandalous as the news reports suggest.
