Iran Issues Warning to the US Regarding Military Escort Strategy Following the Hormuz Attacks Transform Shipping

Iran warns the US regarding its military escort plan, as attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz have left approximately 2,000 ships stranded.

Iran has cautioned the United States regarding the expansion of its military presence in the Strait of Hormuz following a day of attacks that interrupted shipping activities.

Abbas Araghchi warned that the US may find itself “dragged back into the quagmire” if it increases its involvement in the region.

A warning has been issued following a US operation, referred to as “Project Freedom,” which is designed to escort stranded cargo ships through the waterway.

On Monday, the United States reported that Iranian forces launched missiles and drones targeting both military and commercial vessels. Iran maintains its claim over the strait yet has not verified the alleged attacks.

Damage to commercial ships has been reported by South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. A fire at an oil depot in the UAE was also caused by an incident connected to Iran.

Approximately 2,000 ships are believed to be trapped in the strait, which serves as a crucial passage for global oil transport. The United States reports that two of its flagged vessels have departed the area with military escort.

Donald Trump stated that US forces “shot down” seven Iranian fast boats during the operation. The claim was denied by Tehran.

Maersk, the shipping company, announced that one of its vessels has departed the strait with the assistance of US military support. Faridah Abdulkadiri
