Britney Spears has entered a guilty plea for a reckless driving charge following her DUI arrest. She has successfully avoided jail time and has been sentenced to probation.

Britney Spears has entered a guilty plea for reckless driving following her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in California.

The 44-year-old has managed to evade jail time by agreeing to a lesser charge. On Monday, her lawyer, Michael Goldstein, submitted the plea on her behalf in court. Spears was absent from the hearing.

On March 4, authorities apprehended her on a southern California highway for driving her BMW “erratically at a high rate of speed.”

Her representatives characterized the incident as “utterly inexcusable.”

“In her statement today, Britney has acknowledged her accountability for her actions,” Goldstein stated.

“She has made substantial efforts to bring about positive change, as evidenced by the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to lessen the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI,” he added.

Spears entered a guilty plea to a charge commonly referred to as “wet recklessness.” She will undergo 12 months of probation, complete a DUI class, and pay the associated fines.

Prosecutors indicated that this result is typical for first-time offenders who have not been involved in a crash, caused any injury, or registered a high blood-alcohol level.
