Iran says it will attack US forces in the Strait of Hormuz after Trump announced a plan to help ships find their way

Iran has announced its intention to attack US forces in the Strait of Hormuz, while Trump has planned a mission to assist stranded ships.

Iran has said it will attack US forces that enter the Strait of Hormuz after President Trump said he would help ships that are stuck in the waterway get through.

A UN body says that since fighting between the US and Iran started in February, about 20,000 sailors on about 2,000 ships have been stuck in the strait.

As of Monday, Trump said, the US military would start guiding ships. He called the move a “humanitarian gesture.” He said that many ships were running out of food and other goods.

The Iranian military said it controlled the Strait and would fight any foreigners that came near.

It said it would fight “any foreign armed force” that tries to get in, but especially the “aggressive US army.”

The warning could end a weeks-long truce and lead to more fighting.

Reports say that naval protection may not be part of the US plan. Instead, the US could inform commercial ships about the safest routes and remain nearby to prevent attacks.

At the same time, Pakistan said that 22 crew members from an Iranian ship that the US had taken would be given to the Iranian government.
