The film is being screened in 4,150 theatres and is projected to have an opening weekend gross between $75 million and $80 million, with certain estimates suggesting it may reach as high as $90 million.

The narrative centers on Andy Sachs, portrayed by Hathaway, as she reenters the fashion industry and rekindles her relationship with Miranda Priestly at Runway magazine.

The original 2006 film debuted with $27.5 million and concluded its worldwide run with $125 million in domestic earnings.

Last week’s box office leader “Michael” fell to second place with $14.4 million on its second Friday, and is expected to reach $51 million by Sunday.

The musical biopic is experiencing a 48% decline from its previous weekend and is on course for a domestic total of approximately $180 million.

The animated release “Animal Farm” debuted in sixth place, earning $1.1 million from 1,130 cinemas. Directed by Andy Serkis, the film boasts a notable voice cast that includes Jim Parsons, Seth Rogen, and Glenn Close.

“The Super Mario Galaxy” movie secured the third position with $2.7 million on Friday and is anticipated to accumulate $402 million domestically over the course of five weekends.

The horror film “Hokum” debuted in fourth place, earning $2.6 million, while “Project Hail Mary” secured fifth place with $2.2 million and is on track to reach $318 million domestically.
