Halle Berry Confirms Van Hunt Proposed: “Of Course, I Agreed to Marry Him”

Halle Berry has officially announced her engagement to her longtime partner, musician Van Hunt, putting an end to months of online speculation with her own statement.

The Oscar winner spoke about the rumors during a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where she clarified the situation following reports that she had declined a proposal. Berry clarified that the circulating story was inaccurate.

“There seems to be some misunderstanding regarding Van’s proposal to me, which I declined.” “No, that is not the case,” Berry stated. “I did not decline.” We simply do not have a date.

She promptly confirmed the engagement, clearly indicating that there was never any uncertainty regarding her response.

“Naturally, I mentioned that I would marry him,” she added. “He did place a small ring on it.”

In the course of the interview, Berry took a moment to display her engagement ring, showcasing a prominent round center stone. Nevertheless, she maintained confidentiality regarding the specifics of the proposal.

Berry, 59, and Hunt, 55, have been in a relationship since April 2020. Throughout the years, both have expressed their lack of pressure to marry as a means of demonstrating their commitment. Hunt had earlier mentioned that he proposed, noting that they were being patient in their approach.

“We don’t believe that marriage is necessary to affirm our love in any manner,” Berry previously explained. “We do not.”

The engagement comes as Berry actively promotes her forthcoming crime thriller, “Crime 101,” featuring Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo, scheduled to be released on February 13.
