Tyler Perry Faces Several Lawsuits as Attorney Cautions That More Could Be on the Horizon
Perry is currently facing two distinct sexual assault lawsuits, each alleging that he used his influence in Hollywood to exploit and abuse aspiring male actors.
In June, the initial lawsuit was filed, and six months later, a second lawsuit emerged, heightening the legal scrutiny faced by the media mogul.
Regrettably for the Hollywood icon, his legal challenges might just be beginning.
Recently, Jonathan Delshad, the attorney representing both accusers, emphasized that the situation could intensify further.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he stated, “There’s now two of these lawsuits.” Additional developments may be on the horizon.
Perry’s Lawsuit in June 2025 Marks the Start of a Legal Turmoil
According to The Blast, Tyler Perry faced his first significant sexual assault lawsuit of the year in June 2025.
Actor Derek Dixon, known for his roles in Perry’s television series “The Oval” and “Ruthless,” has filed a lawsuit claiming unwanted sexual advances, misconduct, and harassment during his time on set.
Dixon stated that the filmmaker provided him with a two-episode role in “Ruthless” after obtaining his number and assuring him of future contact in 2019.
The actor claimed that the subsequent year he went to Perry’s residence with the intention of forming a friendship that might open doors to additional acting opportunities. Nevertheless, it is said that events did not unfold as intended.
Dixon remembered spending the night there, as he had consumed too much alcohol. While asleep, Perry reportedly entered the actor’s bed and made sexual advances towards him, which Dixon asserted he turned down.
The 35-year-old also remembered getting sexual texts from Perry during the filming of “The Oval.”
Reports indicate that Dixon quietly confronted Perry, despite his concerns about the potential impact on his career.

After filing his $260 million lawsuit, Dixon made his first appearance in a televised interview with ABC News Live anchor Linsey Davis.
The network released a teaser for the interview on Instagram, which ignited significant backlash from Perry’s fans.
Numerous users criticized Dixon for attempting to take advantage of Perry, labeling his assertions as nonsense.
Someone stated, “This man is not telling the truth.” Another fan expressed their distrust in Dixon, stating that his accusations seemed fabricated.
A third fan remarked, “I can’t imagine Tyler Perry jeopardizing his empire over a sexual encounter unless he was confident that all parties were in agreement.” It’s simply too risky unless it unfolded differently than this man intended.
A fourth user remarked, “Wow, it seems like you’re not being truthful.” Cease this immediately! Who is this lady interviewing him, appearing as if she stepped out of 1986?
Perry Confronts Additional Sexual Assault Lawsuit
On December 26, 2025, the legal troubles for Tyler Perry intensified significantly with the filing of a second sexual assault lawsuit by actor Mario Rodriguez, known for his minor role in “Boo! A Madea Halloween.”
Rodriguez claimed that the “Sistas” star made unwanted sexual advances and engaged in alleged misconduct over several years, stating that these interactions occurred between 2014 and 2019 and were presented as career opportunities.
Rodriguez has filed a complaint in Los Angeles County Superior Court, seeking a minimum of $77 million in damages for sexual assault, sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and additional harms.
He also identified “Boo! A Madea Halloween” distributor Lionsgate as a co-defendant, contending that the studio ignored the alleged misconduct.
In the meantime, Perry’s attorney, Alex Spiro, has refuted the allegations, describing them as a scheme to extort money.
In a statement, he remarked, “I have stated this previously, and I will reiterate it once more. This is merely a $77 million scheme for financial exploitation.
